Description

🔷 Product Introduction: Hydrotreated Light Naphtha (HTN)

Manufacturer: Nouri Petrochemical Company

Hydrotreated Naphtha (HTN), also known as light hydrotreated naphtha, is one of the key refined petroleum products used in downstream oil and petrochemical industries. It is derived from light crude oil fractions and purified through a hydrotreating process to remove contaminants, making it suitable for sensitive industrial applications.

⚙️ 1. Physical and Chemical Properties of HTN

HTN has an initial boiling point around 75°C and a final boiling point up to 170°C. Its vapor pressure is less than 5 psi, and its sulfur content is below 1 ppm. It is colorless to light yellow (under 15 on the Pt-Co scale), and it yields a negative result in the Doctor Test, indicating low sulfur and olefin content.

🔬 2. HTN Composition (Based on PONA Analysis)

HTN consists of a mixture of Paraffins (P), Olefins (O), Naphthenes (N), and Aromatics (A). The approximate weight percentage distribution is as follows:

ComponentApproximate wt%
Paraffins (P)40–70%
Olefins (O)Max 0.1%
Naphthenes (N)10–45%
Aromatics (A)5–35%
Others<2.5%

Its carbon chain composition is broken down as follows:

Carbon RangePONA
C50–1≤0.10–1
C65–20≤0.11–101–10
C710–20≤0.15–151–10
C810–20≤0.11–101–10
C95–15≤0.11–100.5–5

🏭 3. Industrial Applications of HTN

HTN is an ideal feedstock for petrochemical units, especially steam crackers. It is used in thermal cracking processes to produce basic petrochemicals such as ethylene, propylene, butadiene, and aromatics like benzene and toluene. Additionally, it finds use in the formulation of industrial solvents and specialty fuels.

🌍 4. Commercial Advantages of HTN for Export

Thanks to its low sulfur content, high clarity, and light hydrocarbon structure, HTN is highly valued in international markets. Major importers include China, South Korea, India, Turkey, and GCC countries. Iranian-produced HTN—particularly from Nouri Petrochemical—is recognized as a premium feedstock for refineries and petrochemical complexes across the region.
